A Study Permit is a document issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that allows foreign nationals to study in Canada.
In order to be eligible for a Study Permit, you must meet certain requirements. You must have a valid passport or travel document, proof of acceptance from a designated learning institution, proof of financial support, and a letter of explanation. You must also be in good health and have no criminal record.
Once you have met the requirements, you can apply for a Study Permit. You can apply online. You will need to provide documents such as your passport, proof of acceptance from a designated learning institution, proof of financial support, and a letter of explanation.
Once your application is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry Letter of Introduction, along with your necessary entry visa, or Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) depending on your country of origin. The actual Study Permit document will be issued at the Port of Entry. This permit will allow you to study in Canada for the duration of your program. You may also be able to work part-time while studying in Canada.
It is important to note that a Study Permit does not guarantee entry and/or re-entry into Canada. You may be asked to provide additional documents at the port of entry.
