The Live-in Caregiver Program (LCP) is a program designed to help Canadian families who need assistance with childcare and elderly care. It is a pathway way for foreign nationals to come to Canada and work as a live-in caregiver. The program is designed to provide families with the help they need while also providing foreign nationals with the opportunity to gain Canadian work experience.

In order to be eligible for the Live-in Caregiver Program, applicants must meet certain criteria. These include having a minimum of six months of full-time training or one year of full-time paid work experience in a related field, such as childcare or elderly care. Applicants must also have a valid work permit and be able to demonstrate that they have the necessary language skills to perform the job.

Once accepted into the program, live-in caregivers are required to live in the home of the family they are caring for. They are also required to work a minimum of 44 hours per week and must be paid at least the minimum wage. Live-in caregivers are also entitled to certain benefits, such as vacation pay, overtime pay, and medical coverage.
